The Collecting Season Has Begun

It is a great time of year. After the Redskins NFL draft it is time to start adding to my Redskins football card collection. While I love the vintage cards that I show on my web site – The Redskins Football Card Museum, I also like adding some new cards each year.
I am not ambitious in my pursuit of new cards. However, each year I like to add an autographed rookie card of each player the Redskins draft or sign as a free agent. I also add the Topps basic Redskins team set.
It will be a few months before Topps issues their basic set for 2009. However, autographed rookie cards are already on the market and I have picked up the cards I wanted. Sage and Press Pass released autographed rookie card sets. These sets tend to feature the highest draft picks and players at the skill positions.
This year, Brian Orakpo may be the only Redskins draft pick included in the pre-season sets. I think that Kevin Barnes may appear in some of the sets released later in the year (like Chris Horton did last year).
The Redskins signed Chase Daniel as a free agent and since he is a quarterback, he will likely be in many releases this year.
